The sea seems to be watching over it. Staring, yearning. Despite having state-of-the-art architecture, constructing a building above a cliffside remains quite a challenge. This was no exception for this Acro Suite Hotel (“edge” in Cretan), located on such a prominent cliff in Crete that it demanded for its workers to abseil! But Danae and Konstantina Orfanake, the sisters behind the project, are made of the same wood as the island’s thousand-year-old olive trees. Nothing can stop them. With 49 suites, including two villas, this boutique hotel offers one of the most spectacular maritime views. With its dry stone walls, local cuisine, spa and yoga classes, the hotel has everything we could wish for in a summer getaway.
