Norman Foster x Porsche, Venice Between Design, Art and Sustainable Mobility

At the Venice Biennale, Gateway to Venice’s Waterway makes its debut—the first result of a creative partnership between the Norman Foster Foundation and Porsche. The 37-meter-long installation is part of The Art of Dreams, Porsche’s cultural initiative that explores the intersections of art, design, and future innovation.

Envisioned as a futuristic transport hub, the structure draws inspiration from Venice’s historic network of bridges, offering a tangible response to the city’s current urban mobility challenges. It symbolically and practically connects land to water-based e-mobility, showcasing solutions like Schiller water bikes and the Frauscher x Porsche 850 Fantom Air, powered by the same electric drivetrain as the new Macan Turbo.

During the opening week of the Biennale, these vehicles will operate as zero-emission mobility options. The installation also features alternative urban transport concepts developed by students from Style Porsche and Studio F.A. Porsche Zell am See, sparking a broader conversation on sustainable mobility in water-bound cities.
