At a time when we tend to make everything electric, Morgan still builds formidable handmade cars, with a waiting list of 6 months. But for the first time in 115 years of existence, Morgan collaborated with another company to design one of their cars, and a good one at that: Pininfarina. The Morgan Midsummer has a barchetta-style body, inspired by the Italian Riviera. This means that the Midsummer doesn’t have a roof and that only the wind deflectors break up its smooth, flowing lines and the hand-crafted wooden panels. The Midsummer weighs 100kg less than the pre-existing Morgan Plus Six, yet has many of its features like the CX-Generation Bonded Aluminium Platform, a six-cylinder turbocharged engine and eight-speed automatic transmission. With only 50 units produced, the Midsummer is so fabulous that Pininfarina gave it the Fuoriserie insignia, usually only attributed to exceptional cars that are no longer produced. It’s beautiful, brutal, swift and loud. It’s exactly what we needed.
