In the early 90s, a young surfer from Laguna Beach, California, made a splash by using patterns inspired by his board as motifs for his T-shirts. Today, Shawn Stüssy has become a global sensation among teenagers, with collaborations as diverse as his interests. Stüssy has also held onto the nostalgia associated with the car culture of the 90s. Discussing this with menswear designer Martine Rose, they decided to team up and focus their collaboration on the origins of tuning and its graphic signature, characterised by excess and kitsch. The new collection resulting from this meeting is now being launched, captured by Rosie Marks’s photoshoot, which introduces the collaboration to the world.
