Maria Castello x El port de la selva: Spanish castle

As soon as you cross the French border, the Spanish coast offers one of its most beautiful places. El Port de la Selva, not far from the Cadaqués dear to Dali, conceals a wild coastline still preserved from the excesses of Mediterranean constructions. To fit in, the Maria Castello studio designed this house by carefully saving the pebbles needed for its excavation. The roof, covered with these famous pebbles, allows the construction to blend with the local natural stone while expressing a strong architectural statement. In the same way, the external walls of the coast are directly linked to the building to amplify the permanent contrast of the building between fusion and rupture. Thus are born these new castles of which the Spanish architects have made a remarkable specialty.
