Mara Toto Tree Camp is the 15th lodge made by Great Plains, a luxury programme which aims to preserve some of the wildest regions of Africa. Launched by famous movie directors and explorers Dereck and Beverly Joubert, the camp is located in Kenya, along the Ntiakiatiak river of the Masai Mara game reserve. The name comes from the swahili word for “baby”, and fits that description: the atmosphere is intimate, with only four suites built no higher than the treetop to avoid any disturbance for the wildlife. Hours spent in the plains are peppered with massages at camp, and followed by delicious meals made of seasonal, local and organic ingredients from the reserve and Nairobi.
