If your family’s feud is the focus of a movie, the stakes must be high! In House of Gucci, poor Paolo’s fate turns into tragedy: excluded from his own brand, the founder tried by all means to keep on functioning as an artistic director. He made many attempts, but from shaky collaborations to disreputable associates, his entrepreneurial adventures came to nothing. This is evidenced by the Jaguar XJS station wagon designed by the English coachbuilder Lynx, and signed by Paolo Gucci. Presented in 1990 at the Geneva Motor Show, the car fell victim to a legal appeal by the brand, forcing Paolo to remove all the “Gucci” mentions. The car, offered at the exorbitant price of 100,000 pounds, did not meet with the expected success and was never produced. However, Paolo had put his heart into it and above all, a lot of precious materials. Lapis lazuli, crocodile, ash marquetry, elm burr, custom woven carpet, alcantara headliner… Soon to be offered at auction by Bonhams, it is a unique opportunity to treat yourself to a monument of history, at the crossroads of fashion and car culture
