Louis Vuitton x Yayoi Kusama: An Artful Capsule Collection

Take an artist who has made endlessly repeated polka dots her lifelong obsession and combine it with an iconic fashion house whose monogram has become synonymous with fashion worldwide. The recently launched Louis Vuitton x Yayoi Kusama capsule is the result of this rather unique allegiance. An exceptional association that re-enacts that of 2012, when the Japanese artist revisited the emblematic trunk of the French brand. Over a decade later, the collaboration is renewed. Only this time, we are talking about something greater than a creative exchange. Yayoi Kusama, 93, has brought with her a veritable invasion of colour, skilfully guided by fragile brushstrokes that we find applied to bags, men’s and women’s clothing, sunglasses, perfumes, shoes and jewellery. Such a special project demanded an equally special theatre. Louis Vuitton chose to present this collection in the brand-new Milanese boutique on Via Bagutta: the former Garage Traversi. Located a stone’s throw from Piazza San Babila, this wonder of rationalist architecture will be both a commercial space and a cultural centre, hosting immersive pop-ups and exhibitions with a strong artistic vocation – which is almost a trademark for Vuitton.
