If the festival found its home in Cannes after the war, it was partly thanks to it. At the time, this seaside resort was considered the ultimate chic lodge. People from all over the world would flock to step on the famous Croisette and the thick carpet of one of the most beautiful sites of the French Riviera. Alas, the establishment lost its superb reputation and its competitors gradually gained a younger clientele, leaving the Carlton’s ageing customers behind. Classified as a historical monument, this gem from the beginning of the century was in need of a full renovation to get back on its feet. Tristan Auer has taken care of it. The talented architect has successfully restored the building to its former glory, revamping its style to match our times.
