The scene is legendary. Leonardo DiCaprio, at the cusp of an intoxicating party, growling like a bear while sluggishly crawling towards his car. Against all odds, and after countless contortions, he manages to clamber into a Lamborghini similar to the one offered by the Artcurial auction house. We are talking about nothing less than the Lamborgini Countach. This masterpiece of Bertone’s design takes inspiration from fighter jets and is undeniably one of the most coveted supercars of the 1980s. Enveloped in a white livery on cream leather, the 455hp of its 12 cylinders propelled this missile beyond 300km/h at the time. Yet poor road holding, light braking, and scorching heat emitted from the engine made its performance very difficult to achieve. To understand its myth, one has to open its elytra doors, feel its protruding angles, and hear its diabolical noise. Just as crazy as the decade that saw its birth, this car is more than a sports car: it is the marker of madness that we will probably never see again. If you have the chance, you should totally go for it. For the lucky ones, this gem of an automobile will be available for sale on February 1st.
