KITH founder Ronnie Fieg has always been fascinated by BMW, a passion that goes back to his childhood. After a few experiments with iconic but relatively mainstream models, the designer set his sights on an icon: the prodigious M1. The vehicle was originally to have been manufactured by Lamborghini, but due to problems at the Italian firm, it was built by the Baur coachbuilder in Stuttgart. The fiber car body is the work of French designer Paul Bracq, the one behind the fantastic Mercedes S-Class. Its aerodynamics were designed to reach up to 250 km/h, an incredible feat at the time. But the project would not come to life until a few years later, and was finally completed by the Italian Giugiaro. The 6-cylinder engine boasts 280 hp and stunning performance for its time. Its price tag was also dizzying, accounting for its modest commercial success despite an impressive racing record. With a current price tag of around 350,000 euros, it’s a safe bet that this brand-new model, in a fabulous color-combo, will easily top the 500,000 euros mark.
