It is difficult to do better than this eco-designed hotel located on a small island off the coast of Mozambique. In a dazzling natural setting by the sea, entrepreneur Nina Flohr has created these luxurious residences out of local mortar using state-of-the-art 3D printers. A clever blend of sand, earth and salt water gives these constructions an unprecedented charm. While the furniture was crafted by local artisans from the surrounding trees, this hotel is not short of modern comfort and contemporary style. There are even nods to Jean Prouvé here and there to prove it (the scattered objects, or the small pools attached to some of the 22 bungalows). Part of the hotel’s revenues also go to support a nearby ocean research center. Not to mention the exquisite local cuisine revamping the treasures the island had to offer!
