Over the past decades, China has seen city planning growing increasingly. With that came the need for Chinese people living in big cities to reconnect with nature. Simultaneously, the countryside’s desertification put some of these country areas in danger, so it was essential to create a new desire for people to settle there. To embrace these two currents, the architect Meng Fanhao had the idea to create a sports complex at the heart of a sublime yet deserted land. This semi-open building enters in communication with nature thanks to its organic shape. Settled on Mount Tai, the Jiunvfeng Bubble Pool is sure to appeal to a new generation that is more conscious about the environment and wants to make their wellbeing a priority.
