After a perfumed bracelet launched by Vacheron Constantin last spring, Jaeger-LeCoultre has invited French perfumer Nicolas Bonneville to work on a special fragrance – crafted around three sophisticated, timeless and exclusive scents. This scented masterpiece is meant to represent the olfactory identity of the house founded almost two hundred years ago. To embody the soul of the brand and the passing of time, the perfumer came up with three narratives. The first one is The Timeless Stories, whose leathery, woody and highly sensual fragrance is reminiscent of the equestrian world, while the violet leaf, crisp and green, evokes the freshly cut grass of a sports field. The second one is The Celestial Odyssey, an olfactory journey that swings between light and shadow. Its heart note is a mysterious patchouli scent, a chiaroscuro ingredient both woody and earthy, which is enhanced by a refreshing camphor and warmed up by high-quality vanilla. Finally, The Precision Pioneer draws its inspiration from the very essence of the Manufacture’s craft, a resinous incense which echoes the origins of the house through the evocation of the intense heat of the forge fire. It is magnified by the complex, intense scents of cedar, oud and guaiac woods, poetic references to the watchmaker’s desk. Let’s congratulate this great initiative, and hope that it will encourage other watchmakers to venture into different fields, a little further away from their usual workspaces.
