Gucci x Pomellato: Precious Audacity

The high jewellery industry can be quite conservative. It’s very serious, as people on the Place Vendôme often say. But times are changing, and some are displaying a welcome audacity. Unveiled in Florence during the Gucci Croisière 2026 fashion show last May, Monili is the first high jewellery collaboration between two of the Kering Group’s major Italian Maisons. Gucci and Pomellato are united by the same passion for craftsmanship, and now they are combining their expertise, respectively in leatherwork and goldsmithing. The result is a collection conceived as a hushed conversation, an embrace between leather, gold and diamonds. Monili, which means “jewellery” in Italian, draws on Pomellato’s 1984 archives to create soft, sculptural shapes that are reminiscent of horseriding, with the buckle as the central motif. The collection features flexible necklaces and bracelets, as well as minaudières with delicate clasps. Hand-stitched brown and black leather meets diamond-encrusted white and pink gold, creating a subtle interplay of tactile and visual contrasts.
