We may be looking at one of the most beautiful palaces in the world. Until recently, while the surrounding garden had remained outstanding, the building’s interior was starting to decay. Thanks to French decorator Pierre Yves Rochon, however, the hotel has completely regained its splendour as well as its unrivalled prestige. Located in the heart of Florence’s historical neighbourhood and spanning four-and-a-half hectares, the Gherardesca garden is the biggest private green zone of the city. In 1820, this 15th-century botanical garden was restored by Count Guido della Gherardesca, who imbued it with the Romantic aesthetic of his time. Home to a miniature Ionian temple and precious trees, this garden is itself a destination.
