Fornasetti x Poltrona Frau: The Seat of Taste

Looking for an armchair that speaks highly of your taste? Here’s something that may just do the trick. Two Italian legends, Fornasetti and Poltrona Frau have teamed up to offer a reinterpretation of the Vanity Fair armchair – whose name has nothing to do with the magazine. This unprecedented piece, whose original design dates from the 30s, is done in Poltrona Frau’s signature leather and ornamented with Fornasetti’s celestial motifs. The design was conceived by Piero Fornasetti in the 50s and was re-adapted by Roberto Lazzeroni in 2020 for its 90th anniversary. Now it is reinterpreted by the current artistic director and guardian of this rich legacy, Fornasetti’s son, Barnaba, who declared: “Since I was a child, people told me that my head was in the clouds. So, I reproduced them from an old print in my bedroom using them as wallpaper on various objects. The sun is one of the themes my father obsessively interpreted: when I sat on a Vanity Fair, I felt like I was on a cloud and started daydreaming. The project created with Poltrona Frau was an opportunity to revisit my youth and, finally, go back up there, among the clouds…”.  Limited to 50 pieces, this gem is priced at 12,000€.
