Water, the life that composes and surrounds us, is at the root of Chaumet’s new Haute Joaillerie collection. Salty, agitated, foaming, hemming in tongues of sand, or soft, barely sleeping, undulating, water is inhabited by a motion, however subtle. Trying to freeze it in jewelry is a challenge: it is necessary to capture these states in order to transcribe them into a precious vocabulary. This is a first for Chaumet, which has naturally embraced plants since its first steps (we remind you of the fabulous exhibition at the Beaux-Arts in Paris until September). A new territory, as delightful as it is intriguing, with which the house has multiplied the destinations with transformable pieces: the head jewel becomes a brooch, the sautoir can be adjusted to fit the neck, the covering earring offers two wearings, the 6.05 carat diamond goes from a ring covering the phalanx to a solitaire setting…etc. Combinations as changeable as the precious seas towards which Chaumet is now heading, all sails set.
