CARTIER x Sixième Sens : Precious Synesthesis

Displaying three spectacular creations, Cartier just closed the third chapter of their high jewelry collection titled ‘Sixième Sens’ (sixth sense). While one can’t describe what this sixth sense precisely is, anyone can still testify to having felt it at least once in their life. It is the principle of synesthesia, which gives its name to this necklace topped with a 35-carat emerald. The scientific community describes synesthesia as follows: to experience a particular sensation in an other sensory or cognitive pathway than the one that should experience it. Continuing this exploration, Cartier dipped into underwater territories. The ‘Heteractis’ ring takes its name from a fabulous anemone. A corolla of diamonds and emeralds with a unique cubic shape, featuring a rare Ceylon sapphire, the ring weighs close to 8 carats. Finally, for the most daring of their clients, Cartier wanted to sublimate the shoulder with the ‘Victorienne’ necklace. Like a reptile, this wonderful necklace perfectly follows the shape of the body and carries a 17-carat Colombian emerald. This particular piece is a tribute to an original idea by Jeanne Toussaint dating back to 1925. Almost a century later, this new interpretation is all the more contemporary.
