Ensamble, the architecture studio initiated their latest project inside an abandoned limestone quarry in Menorca. Headed by Anton Garcia Abril, a M.I.T professor and 1996 Prix de Rome winner, this architecture studio is one of the most avant-garde there is today. Garcia Abril wanted this cave accommodation to be comfortable without being too intrusive. The Terra House is equipped with glass partitions and minimalist furniture. It draws electric power from solar panels, and water from a powerful recycling system. This Brutalist vision honors nature and opens new perspectives in reappropriating wilderness – which is more than ever one of architecture’s biggest challenges today.
