Tomoaki Nagao, whose nickname Nigo means 25 in Japanese, left his home province of Maebashi after secondary school to go to the Japanese capital, Tokyo. A hip-hop lover, Nigo started working in a streetwear boutique, where he came up with the idea of creating his own brand. After seeing Planet of the Apes, he decided to use the monkey mask as the logo for A Bathing Ape, or BAPE. In a few years, BAPE became one of the most coveted brands in the world, with an increasing number of collabs, including this one with Comme des garçons, another big name in Japanese fashion, whose little heart with eyes is just iconic. This little technical summer alliance should send the counters into a frenzy.
