The 75th-anniversary celebrations of Onitsuka Tiger couldn’t be more explosive. The iconic Japanese brand has decided to invite one of the most famous manga icons of all time to its party: Astro Boy. For the occasion, a collection entirely inspired by the hero born in 1951, considered a kind of Mickey Mouse with a Japanese twist, has been created. Onitsuka Tiger’s new collection dedicated to Astro Boy ranges from shoes to T-shirts, hats, and more. The character’s logo, created by Osamu Tezuka, is prominently featured on all items, and the color theme goes from red to white to black. The standout pieces of the entire collection are the red Dentigre Puff boots. They have a rather imposing look and faithfully replicate Astro Boy’s rocket-powered feet (also known as Tetsuwan Atom – Mighty Atom). The official launch of the capsule collection, scheduled for 2024, was previewed by a pop-up store in Tokyo’s Ginza district on December 12. To admire the collection outside Japan, one will have to wait for the new year. In 2024, a wider distribution is planned in 12 other countries. A final note regarding the price: it ranges from $50 for a pair of Onitsuka Tiger socks to $250 for the Dentigre Puff boots, up to $370 for the bomber jacket. Are you ready to fly?
