Antonio Aricò x Seletti, the Magna Grecia Series is Colored by Blue

Launched in 2023, the Magna Graecia series by Antonio Aricò returns to the protagonist in the 2024 catalog by Seletti. This time, however, the invasion of sculptures, vases, carafs and terracotta accessories has decreased by an intense and brilliant blue. A shade that evokes the sky and the sea of Calabria, region of origin of the Italian artist-design. Magna Graecia Cobalt Version is an optimistic collection that aims to embellish terraces, gardens, verandas but also lounges, living rooms and entrances of houses all over the world, bringing a little bit any of a material tied double -thread to the Mediterranean tradition: the cooked terrain. “I am fascinated by the ‘naked’ color and by the natural imperfection of its thicknesses – says Aricò – all qualities that prompted me to create a family of objects that could speak of craftsmanship and at the same time tell of passionate stories through the interpretation of the Magnogreche decorations “. The series, originally presented in natural terracotta, then ranges from the most functional to decorative objects: the support or wall vessels with doric, Greek or wave decorations, accompany the jug with stereotyped sections, to the Ionian column to be used as a pedestal or to asieneri decorated with Greek motifs. To these are added the most decorative pieces: the two large and sensual “bronzes”, inspired by the famous Riace sculptures, the male and female head vessels inspired by the ceramics of Caltagirone, the cup and the amphora with battles decorations and of love scenes or the Man and Poppea busts. “The terracotta – concludes Aricò – is a material only in appearance very poor. In reality it allows you to create real magic”. More info, on Seletti.it
