Anja Rubik x BOUCHERON: Fantastic Quatre

It was back in 1893 when a bold Frédéric Boucheron established himself on the Place Vendôme, becoming the first jeweller to do so. When the Maison launched “Quatre” in 2004, it was an equally daring move. Could audacity be the thread running through a piece with an excentric exterior yet firmly rooted principles? This is surely one of the keys to the success of the duo formed by Hélène Poulit-Duquesne and Claire Choisne, CEO and artistic director respectively of the label on 26 Place Vendôme. Twenty years and many reinterpretations later, Quatre proves that a new idea, when steeped in a rich heritage, can bear fruit over time. A blend of gold shades and skills that speak highly of Fréderic Boucheron. Take, for example, the “gros grain” motif: the transverse ribs found on silk ribbons are, as a matter of fact, an allusion to Frédéric’s parents, who were silk dealers. Or the “Clou de Paris”, which evokes the old paving stones on Place Vendôme. Then there is the diamond line, a tribute to jewellers, and finally the “double godron”, a motif found in the archives dating from 1860. This fantastic “Quatre”, with its diagonal nobility, keeps on dazzling us.
