Born in the south of France, Simon Porte Jacquemus moved to Paris at the age of 18 to study fashion, launching his eponymous brand just a year later, naming it after his mother’s maiden name. The fashion designer quickly gained attention by having friends wear his minimalist yet original creations in Parisian boutiques and during Vogue’s Fashion Night Out events. Vogue’s Fashion Night Out events brought him to the light, and he took advantage of that attention to organise a memorable street show. This success led to his participation, the following year, to the Paris Fashion Week at just 22 years old, making him the youngest designer to participate. Jacquemus’ designs often draw inspiration from his childhood memories in the south of France, featuring sun-drenched colours and poetic references to the region’s landscapes, which is why he doesn’t hesitate to present his collections in unique settings such as lavender or wheat fields. His simple yet striking silhouettes and unconventional details have earned him critical acclaim, including the 2015 Special Jury Prize at the LVMH Prize, a reward for young fashion designers. In 2018, Jacquemus expanded his brand to include menswear, further solidifying his position as a rising star in the fashion industry, and he received the prestigious Chevalier de l’Ordre des Arts et des Lettres in 2022, becoming the youngest fashion designer to be awarded this honour. Over the past decade, Jacquemus has maintained an independent and innovative approach, captivating the fashion world with his poetic and accessible vision. He is now known all over the world, selling his creations in London, New York and Paris, where he was spotted at the Prelude to the 2024 Olympic Games, an evening party at the Fondation Louis Vuitton.
