Her early work with the group, which included iconic comedy films like Les Bronzés (1978) and Le Père Noël est une ordure (1982), established her as a talented comedic actress known for playing quirky, unconventional characters. Beyond her acting skills, she has showcased her talents as a screenwriter and director by writing and directing several successful films, including the critically acclaimed Gazon maudit (1995), which earned her a César Award for Best Original Screenplay. Her directorial work has often challenged traditional boundaries, exploring themes of sexuality and social issues with a unique perspective, and this willingness to take risks have earned her numerous accolades, including a César Award for Best Actress in 1989 for her role in Trop belle pour toi.
