While his remarkable role in the series The Bear propelled him to become the undisputed symbol of menswear in 2024, the face of the latest Calvin Klein campaign has an exceptional acting career that goes back much further than that. Born in 1991 in New York City, Jeremy Allen White grew up in Brooklyn’s Carroll Gardens neighbourhood and was first fascinated by dance, which led him to study ballet, jazz and tap dance, until he fell out of love with the school’s program at age 11. He then turned to acting, landing a few roles in plays, films and television series, while still attending the Professional Performing Arts School in Manhattan. His breakthrough came shortly after graduating in 2010 with his brilliant portrayal of Phillip Gallagher in the TV series Shameless. Throughout the series’ ten-year run, White appeared in several films, including Twelve (2010), After Everything (2018), and The Rental (2020), as well as the Amazon Prime Video thriller series Homecoming, starring Julia Roberts and Bobby Cannavale. Following the series finale, he went on to play the leading role in The Bear, which marked a complete rebirth of both his public image and professional career. The show was a huge success, and both the first and second seasons earned White a Golden Globe Award for Best Performance for his portrayal of Carmen ‘Carmy’ Berzatto.
