Haider Ackermann is a French ready-to-wear fashion designer currently based in Paris. Born in Bogotá in 1971, he was adopted shortly afterwards and lived in several countries before settling in the French capital, where he founded his eponymous brand in 2002. His style has earned international recognition and gained high praise from prominent figures like Karl Lagerfeld, who called him “the new Yves-Saint-Laurent” in 2010. Winner of the Swiss Textile Award (2004) and Fashion Group International Award for Design (2012), Ackermann has been approached by many brands to take over as artistic director. He joined Berluti in 2016, but abandoned the brand shortly afterwards and continued focusing on his label. After a series of highly successful collaborations with celebrities like Tilda Swinton and Timothée Chalamet, Ackerman took on the role of designing Jean-Paul Gaultier’s Haute Couture 2023 collection. Freshly announced on September 4th, 2024, Haider Ackermann is the new Artistic Director of Tom Ford. The first collection of the acclaimed designer for the label will be shown in Paris next year during Spring-Summer 2025 Fashion Week, which promises to be one of the most eagerly anticipated shows.
