Diane Pernet is an American fashion blogger and critic based in Paris, whose degree in documentary filmmaking from Temple University nurtured her lifelong passion for cinema. After a successful 13-year career as a fashion designer in New York City, Pernet relocated to Paris in the 1990s, where she worked as a costume designer and fashion editor. In the late 1990s, she became a pioneering figure in the digital fashion landscape, launching one of the industry’s first fashion blogs, “A Shaded View on Fashion” (ASVOF), in 2005. In 2008, Pernet’s vision and dedication to the intersection of fashion and film led her to create the three-day ASVOFF (A Shaded View on Fashion Film) festival, where she has championed the growth of the fashion film genre, nurturing collaborations between designers, photographers, and directors. She was also a talent scout for the Hyères Festival, co-curated NOOVO in Spain, and co-edited Zoo Magazine in Germany. Her influential voice and iconic personal style have also earned her recognition, including the FAD Medal, the Felicidad Duce Fashion award, and induction into the Business of Fashion’s prestigious “BOF 500” list.
