Born on 11 April 1974 in Paris, Benoit Magimel became an actor at the age of 14, when he played the role of Momo Groseille in the cult film “La vie est un long fleuve tranquille” by Etienne Chatiliez. Devoting himself entirely to the cinema from his early teens, the actor played a series of roles alongside great actors and directors such as André Téchiné, Michael Haneke and Mathieu Kassovitz. His consecration came in 1997 at the Césars, where he was awarded the prize for best male performance for his role in The Pianist. He was awarded three more Césars; in 2016 for his role in “Tête Haute” by Emmanuelle Bercot as Best Supporting Actor, in 2022 for his role in De son vivant as Best Actor and consecutively in 2017 for Pacification, Tourment sur les Îles. This year, 2023, Benoît Magimel will attend the Cannes Film Festival in 3 films for very different roles. He is starring in Elias Belkeddar’s “Omar la Fraise” alongside Reda Kateb, in Tran Anh Hung’s “La passion de Dodin Bouffant” alongside Juliette Binoche and in Stéphanie di Giusto’s “Rosalie” with Nadia Terezskewicz.
