Zegna’s Elegant Nonchalance Closes Milan Men’s Fashion Week
One of Zegna’s most striking traits is the perfect balance between the brand’s heritage and the contemporary approach of its creative director, Alessandro Sartori. This peculiarity was once again impeccably narrated in the fashion show for the Fall-Winter 2025 collection, Vellus Aurem, named after the jewel in the crown of the brand’s wools. The result of a project inaugurated in 1963 by founder Ermenegildo Zegna to support Australian breeders in the search for the finest wool in the world, it achieved the world record for the single fiber in 2023 with a fineness of 9.4 microns. The softest and most refined fabrics are woven with this excellence, the raw material with which to create, collection after collection, a new tribute to the roots, respectful in spirit and free in interpretation. As Sartori himself says, “In this collection the garments are chosen with nonchalance and mixed spontaneously, telling a meeting of generations in the name of Italian style. The man I have in mind draws from a wardrobe where pieces have been collected over decades, for their emotional and material value. Working with washed wools and Vellus Aureum we were able to transfer lived life onto the garments.” This wardrobe of elegant nonchalance was interpreted on the catwalk by a mix of men and boys of singular charm, including, surprisingly, John Turturro.
