Yohji Yamamoto Lightens Up Black with Poetry and Precision
For more than forty years, Japanese fashion designer Yohji Yamamoto has consistently surprised us with his creations. Characterised by impressive craftsmanship, fluid and light silhouettes, or sometimes more structured ones, his collection enhances black with bows and elegant draping. The outfits were paired with technical trainers and high boots, while several dresses featured calligraphic messages reminiscent of diary pages or abstract white paint marks. Poppy red capes and crinolines added a subtle flamboyance that contrasted with the overall austerity of the designs. This rigorous and poetic approach continues to appeal to a new generation of fashion enthusiasts, including Mia Khalifa, Nathalie Peluso, Suzy Menkes, Liz Cambage, and many others.
