A weekend at We Love Green with Björk, Charlotte Gainsbourg and Juliette Armanet
Summer hasn’t really settled in until We Love Green set up its stages, workshops and “bistronomic” restaurants in the middle of Bois de Vincennes. Today, the day after the music festival known for being strongly committed to the environmental cause and ecological awareness, nobody has come out of the experience undamaged – but it’s always for the better. You favorite music still still stuck on loop in your head, the visual performances printed on your retina and sunburns warming up your skin (there was not a drop of rain to deplore this year), you surely haven’t seen the three days of festival go by. That means the programming was once again extremely well curated. There was one ultimate headliner this year, it was legendary artist Björk, whose closing concert was in fact her only performance of the season in France. On stage, it was something between a concert and a contemporary art performance enhanced by a utopian tropical backdrop. Still, this final bouquet was only the climax of a very strong line-up of diverse artists. Alongside big names Juliette Armanet, Charlotte Gainsbourg and Orelsan, emerging performers like Ibeyi, The Internet, Jorja Smith and the young Angèle did make quite an impact on the record-breaking crowd. As we sailed from stage to stage and change musical atmosphere, we inevitably stopped to see this year’s artistic installation and we go with the flow guiding us to a few stands that catch our attention, such as the one of organic drinks brand, Honest – an ecological alternative to those in need of something more refreshing than wine or beer. Finally, for this seventh edition, We Love Green once again cultivated its difference with a whole think tank program around themes like “zero waste”, our oceans, or the energy transition… Review.
