Fashion irony: Vetements takes over Tati
Just four letters, but a whole world behind them. Tati used to be the Parisian temple of low-cost fashion, and now it is becoming the temple of Parisian coolness. A point in case: Vetements by Guram Gvasalia fashion show, where all the top editors were rushing to in between the couture shows. Why so? Well, the answer is simple: every time, Vetements shakes up the consensus, questions fashion, and our time through strong messages with political resonance. For example, this pantsuit made of the same plastic fabric as the makeshift bags we used to see in this impoverished neighborhood right at the foot of the store in the North of Paris, now in full transformation on it’s way to become the new coolest district of Paris. As for the music, the show started with some French lullaby classics before sinking into a more radical techno as the models arrived. Guests included, Rosalba, Derek Blasberg, Susie Bubble, Hamish Bowles, and Uliana Dobrovskaya, whose mother Renata Litvinova walked for Guram’s brother, Demna the day before at Balenciaga couture show.
