Vernissage Fiac 2011
Under the grand nave of the Grand Palais, the prestigious alleys of the FIAC 2011 are crowded. On the lookout for a new artistic nugget or an established value of art, there is something for everyone. The novelty of this edition, which is more international than ever: to bring together established and younger galleries in a single place. The Louvre’s Cour Carrée is over, and the Grand Palais has restored rooms on the first floor where the most trendy galleries exhibit the works of young talents: ACDC, Maccarone, Andre Kreps, Karma International on the foreign side leave a lasting impression, while on the French side we find Bugada & Cargnel, Loevenbruck or Martine Aboucaya. A beautiful distribution to which is added the galleries which received the support of the Galeries Lafayette Group. Among them, the German Gallery Johann König which highlights Helen Martin.
On the ground floor, the urban fantasies of JR rival the dizzying Gothic towers of Wim Delvoye. We enjoy the wise paintings of Liu Wei at Almine Rech, so Kamel Mennour remains faithful to the curves of Anish Kapoor. The Almighty Gagosian displays with opulence the works of the greatest of all generations: Calder, Hirst, Murakami, Picasso, Warhol or Cy Twombly.
The FIAC is also outside the walls in the tile garden with the Parc des Sculptures, but also in the Jardin des Plantes which acclimatizes freshly to contemporary art. A real artistic week to follow closely and which is spreading throughout Paris.
