Music invites itself everywhere, even in sports tournaments. This weekend’s first Underground Football Club was no exception. Not surprising considering that its organizing force, the Dcontract agency (personified as Rod Reynolds), recently launched its young talent booking label. An absolutely brilliant initiative supported by Adidas and eight teams at the top of their game.
Saturday, in Montreuil, the stage is set: a disused factory of 4000 square meters, an octagonal ground embedded in a metal cage like an arena, and highly creative teams fighting ball to ball for victory: Because Music, CHMPGN, Konbini or Surface to air are part of the game, won in a final confrontation by the team The Green Soccer Journal.
In interludes, a series of eclectic lives serves as soundtrack to this oozing afternoon, with notably Little Freaky Things, We Were Evergreen, We Are Knights, Manaré or Yan Wagner. On the art side, we discover the hanging of Alex Trochut, invited to seize the walls in the middle of the tags and gravas which line the abandoned place. The bar, planted in the middle of the space like an oasis, serves as a federator for guests who come to support the teams from noon to midnight.
Music, football, art and cocktails: that’s enough to make a Saturday back on August 15th… for all fans of the genre.
