Uchronia Takes Over the Cour Jardin of the Plaza Athénée Hotel With its Day Bed

Hôtel Plaza Athénée, Paris

Surrealist French design studio Uchronia took over the Cour Jardin of the Plaza Athénée Hotel with a poetic yet bold installation : an oversized daybed, inspired by the hotel and its iconic garden, and adorned with the collective’s signature color palette of vibrant green and red hues. Called Day Bed, this dreamlike piece reinterprets the traditional codes of the bed, blending maximalism, interesting shapes and hand-stitched details. Made in collaboration with artisanal manufacturer Tréca, the installation features vivid ceramic tiles by Palet, refined fabrics by Jacquard Français, as well as flower-print textiles by MISIA. Some chrome touches reflect the natural light of the courtyard, giving a dreamlike aura to the piece, halfway between functional design and imaginary universe. During this colorful evening, we met Julian Sebban, Mélanie Leroy, Danielle Polanco, Isaac Boots, Panicha Thisanon and many others.
