Toiletpaper, the Most Unconventional Party of the Fuorisalone at Largo Treves
Go big or go home, TOILETPAPER is back. As it is now customary, the magazine and creative studio founded by Maurizio Cattelan and Pierpaolo Ferrari, hosts the most anticipated event of Milan Design Week, the TOILETPAPER Party. The chosen location this year is the soon-to-be-demolished Largo Treves Tower in Milan, an imposing building whose facade is enveloped in Agostino Iacurci’s colourful artworks for the occasion. Accompanying his palm tree silhouettes and tropical sunset lights, an installation part of the “Glo for art” project was also unveiled during the party. Titled “Dry Days, Tropical Nights”, this large-scale work invites viewers to reflect on their surroundings and the potential changes that they could undergo in the future. Thanks to the collaboration with expert climatologists, Iacurci presents us here with a hypothetical image of the peninsula in the future based on our current management of the planet, which is nothing but desert and tropical landscapes. It was thus amidst deep sounds, flashy lights, symbols and sculptures that TOITLETPAPER took place, a diverse and gai ambience that matches perfectly the essence of the magazine, a cutting-edge approach that embraces uniqueness and promotes freedom of expression. The evening was a celebration of creativity and an invitation for the guests to give free rein to their imagination by creating their own looks. Wrestler outfits, 80s fitness looks à la Jane Fonda, or even lobster costumes paraded on the busy Milan streets. A festival of extravaganza but also a call for consciousness about the future of our planet and the challenge that fighting climate change represents. Among the guests, we spotted personalities like Maurizio Cattelan, Pierpaolo Ferrari, Agostino Iacurci, Fabio Novembre, Giulia Valentina, Tony Effe, Stephanie Glitter and Myss Keta, the star on stage
