Tod’s Celebrates Italian Craftsmanship in Venice
Thanks to Tod’s, this versatile and iconic shoe, the moccasin, has become a symbol of excellence and Italian “art de vivre”. Entirely hand-assembled and sewn by the finest craftsmen, the Gommino is now part of the world heritage of Italian chic. In Venice, the legendary model has been reinterpreted by Venetian masters unanimously recognised as the best in their field. This project was unveiled during the Venice Biennale and bears witness to Tod’s unwavering support for creation, know-how and craftsmanship. Some of the masters who joined the initiative are glassblower Roberto Beltrami, goldsmith Marino Menegazzo, gem-setters Saverio Pastor and Piero Dri, master glassmakers Matteo Seguso (engraving) and Lucio Bubacco (lampwork) and mask-maker Sergio Boldrin took part. Building on the momentum, Tod’s, an official partner of the Italian pavilion – which features the work of Massimo Bartolini, curated by Luca Cerizza – welcomed a host of prestigious guests, including Adrien Brody, Eva Herzigova, Kelly Rutherford, Nancy Zhang, Larsen Thompson, Caro Daur and Joy.
