This Season’s Chaillot Expérience #1: “Body Live-Live Music” by Dimitri Chamblas
Thanks to French contemporary dance choreographer Dimitri Chamblas, the Théatre de Chaillot has metamorphosed into a grand dance and music studio for two days. This unique event welcomed visitors to actively explore the links between music and dance, thus blurring the boundaries between spectators and performers.
Designed in collaboration with dancer and performer Lucie Domenach, this immersive experience aimed at making guests feel at home in the space through a variety of activities, comprising dancing, playing music, observing, listening and documenting. The cornerstone of the event was the dialogue between body and sound, which participants could experience first-hand by letting the music set their bodies in motion, and conversely, by witnessing how gestures and movements also generate rhythms and sounds.
By gathering the public in a shared creative space, “Body live-live music” revisited the possible interaction between dance and music in an innovative format, which celebrated improvisation, spontaneity and meetings.
The event also featured performances by renowned artists such as Kim Gordon from Sonic Youth, Zoé Guérard, Marion Barbeau, and Emily Wells.
The next Chaillot Expérience, which will take place on October 11th and 12th, will pay tribute to Taiwanese culture through a series of exhibitions, meetings, performances, workshops and concerts.
