The Supima Design Lab celebrates first edition in Paris

As the Supima Design Competition celebrated its tenth anniversary last year as part of New York and Paris Fashion Weeks, September 2018 marked a new milestone in the history of Supima, the organization dedicated to promoting this high quality American cotton. Namely the creation of the Supima Design Lab, an experimental platform aimed at promoting this exceptional fibre as well as showcasing the work of emerging talents. After the Design Competition and its finalist’s fashion show as part of New York Fashion Week, Supima presented the various layers of the Design Lab during Paris Fashion Week in the form of an exhibition installed in the salons of Hôtel de Talleyrand. First, by inviting five renowned houses and designers (Martin Grant, Guy Laroche, Véronique Leroy, Leonard and, Rahul Mishra) to present garments designed with the Supima cotton, alongside the designs of the 2018 Hyères Festival’s winners (Supima is a longstanding partner of the Festival). Among them, the duo Botter (Jury Grand Prize), who were recently appointed creative directors of Nina Ricci. Finally, the event allowed Parisian opinion leaders to discover the collections of the Supima Design Competition’s finalists, and thus to fully appreciate Supima’s efforts to support emerging as well as established talents.
