VETEMENTS Takes Paris by Storm with its SS26 Collection
Yesterday afternoon, VETEMENTS created a veritable tidal wave in a run-down Parisian building on the Champs Elysées. Ice Spice, Cara Delevingne and others paraded down an electrifying catwalk to the deafening sound of techno music, once again offering a show both spectacular and unprecedented. The wardrobe was made of loose-fitting denim, inflatable neck cushions and thick leather, mixed with transparent masks, perpetuating VETEMENTS’ traditionally counter-intuitive aesthetic. Bulky bomber jackets were paired with fitted tweed ensembles and tennis uniforms, playing on sensuality through the juxtaposition of masculine and feminine clothing. Then polo shirts, oversized cargo trousers, trench coats, Bermuda shorts and miniature tracksuit jackets targeted a wider audience, in stark contrast to the ‘I AM NAKED UNDERNEATH MY CLOTHES’ T-shirts. Finally, blazers were embellished with extra fabric at the back, while Paris souvenir tank tops, encrusted with rhinestones, evoked nostalgia for the 1990s.
We met Jordan Roth, Arielle Dombasle, Kelly Rutherford, Heidi Klum, and Michèle Lamy.
