The Sirène – Lapérouse Prize Pays Tribute to Poetry

Restaurant Lapérouse, Paris

Famous for its exquisite salons and its unique literary heritage, the Lapérouse restaurant was the ideal place to host the very first edition of the Sirène – Lapérouse prize, founded by David Freche and Vanessa Trigano. The award is given to a volume of contemporary poetry published in the previous year, with the aim of highlighting the authenticity, originality and creativity of francophone poetry. Presided over by David Freche, the jury is made up of 9 permanent members, including Tahar Ben Jelloun, winner of the 1987 Goncourt Prize, as well as Thibault de Montaigu, Guillaume Houzé, Vanessa Trigano, Patrick Mille, Emilie Patou, Lara Micheli, Carole Chrétiennot and special jury members Antoine Caro and Mélanie Davoust. Among the six competing authors, the Sirène – Lapérouse 2025 prize went to Jean Pérol, for his collection “Le vieil air du monde” and his poetry that is both necessary and fraternal. The writer received a provision of 3,000 euro from the honorary president of the award, Émilie Patou. He thus becomes the very first winner of a prize whose future editions we eagerly await.
