The Reopening of the Napoleon III Apartments at the Musée du Louvre

The renovation of the Napoleon III apartments has just been completed. For the past nine months, the Musée du Louvre’s Collection Presentation and Art Workshops teams have been working in close collaboration with conservation and restoration professionals to bring back to their full splendour these exceptional rooms, which bear witness to the outstanding quality of decorative arts produced during the Second Empire.

Having been home to a succession of distinguished residents, these suites are more so unique because they have preserved their original décor and furnishings. Today, they stand as a symbol of a style in its own right: the Napoleon III style.

Visitors will be delighted to discover, or rediscover, these exquisitely renovated apartments located in the Richelieu wing of the Musée du Louvre. It’s the perfect opportunity to wander around while listening to the overture to George Bizet’s Carmen!
