The Prix Aznavour des Mots d’Amour Rewards the Most Beautiful Love Confession

Hotel Particulier Montmartre, Paris

The most beautiful love lyrics in French chanson are undoubtedly his. In love with the world, with life, but especially with words, Charles Aznavour has marked entire generations with his stirring lyrics, which reveal the loving man he was in all the relationships of his life. Writing was a beacon in Aznavour’s life, and he celebrated love in every shape and form with his words, which transcended time. To pay tribute to his father, Mischa Aznavour created the Prix Aznavour des Mots d’Amour, awarded every year to a novel or a poem which celebrates love just like Aznavour intended. Among the finalists were “La barque de Masao” by Antoine Choplin (Buchet-Chastel), “Les grandes patries étranges” by Guillaume Sire (Calmann-Lévy), “Je danserai pour toi” by Aurélie Razimbaud (Denoël), “Le don” by Kristina Gauthier-Landry (La peuplade), and “Petite fille” by Valentine Tedo (Éditions du Rocher).

In the romantic setting of the Hôtel particulier Montmartre, this exceptional prize was awarded to Aurélie Razimbaud for her novel “Je danserai pour toi”. Jury members included Mischa Aznavour, Léonor de Récondo, Tchéky Karyo, Chloé Deschamps, Christian Panvert, Pascal Nègre, Jacques Terzian and Gérard Davoust.
