The Prix de la Closerie des Lilas Celebrates its 19th Edition

Closerie des lilas, Paris

Last night, the enchanting Closerie, decorated with lilac flowers, welcomed a host of privileged guests. Accompanied by Pity Cabrera’s Cuban orchestra, many figures of the Parisian literary and artistic scene were present, including Vincent Perez and Karine Silla, Eva Ionesco, Anne Berest, Arnaud Desplechin, Elsa Zylberstein, Emma Becker, Pauline Lefèvre, Abnousse Shalmani, ORLAN, Émilie Frèche, Josiane Balasko, Anne Consigny, Abnousse Shalmani, Pauline Lefevre, Natacha Régnier…

Created in 2007, the Prix de la Closerie des Lilas aims to promote women’s literature. To ensure its independence and inclusiveness, the prize’s founders set up an exceptional all-female jury whose members come from the worlds of the arts, literature, media, science and politics. On Tuesday, May 6th, founders Emmanuelle de Boysson, Carole Chrétiennot, Adélaïde de Clermont-Tonnerre, Stéphanie Janicot, Jessica Nelson and Tatiana de Rosnay, along with guest jury members Marine Delterme, Karine Dijoud, Catherine Frot, Ophélie Meunier and Valérie Perrin, met to deliberate. Among the nominees were Emmanuelle Favier for Écouter les eaux vives (Albin Michel), Paule du Bouchet for Le parloir (Hachette Fictions, La belle étoile collection) and Florence Seyvos for Un perdant magnifique (Éditions de l’Olivier).

With the support of the Montblanc brand and Duval-Leroy champagnes, the prize was awarded to Florence Seyvos for her 5th book, a gripping family drama that spirals out of control. The winner will be the special guest of La Closerie des Lilas for one year, with a prize of 3,000 euros.
