While before the summer the Louis Vuitton Foundation was devoting a major exhibition to African art, this autumn it is presenting 200 masterpieces from the Museum of Modern Art (MoMA) as part of “Être moderne: le MoMA à Paris” in association with the emblematic New York museum. The meeting of the two institutions comes at a time when MoMA is currently embarking on a major expansion project. Until March 5, Glenn D. Lowry (Director of MoMA) and Suzanne Pagé (Artistic Director of the Louis Vuitton Foundation) will be putting modern art in the spotlight with this exhibition curated by Quentin Bajac. The inauguration did not fail to bring together art professionals like Jean Pigozzi, and even former Prime Minister Manuel Valls. It must be said that for those who have never had the opportunity to visit the museum on the other side of the Atlantic, there is nothing in the world to miss this opportunity to meet the works of masters Picasso, Cézanne, Klimt, Kirchner, Hopper, Matisse, Beckmann, Duchamp or Kusama. Some works, such as Brancusi’s “L’oiseau dans l’espace” and Andy Warhol’s “Campbell’s Soup Cans”, have never been exhibited in France before. While France Culture broadcast a special program live (and in public!) from the Foundation, you could have fun voting for your favorite expressionist artist on @fondationlv’s Instastory (against Newman, it’s Rothko who wins). Perhaps the new way to predict the success of an exhibition? #flvmoma
