Jean-Guillaume Mathiaut’s Landscape Displayed at Bastok Lessel Gallery

Bastok Lessel – Paris showcases Jean-Guillaume Mathiaut’s first-ever solo show called Eden.

Artist Jean-Guillaume Mathiaut has a deep connection with nature. In his workshop near Fontainebleau, he crafts his “landscape-furniture” with wood that he salvages in the forest. Fossil wood, tree bark or branches, he sculpts these raw materials and transforms them into unique pieces.

Inspired by Constantin Brancusi and Isamu Noguchi as well as African and Oceanian tribal art, the artist creates chairs, console tables, totems and more authentic artworks with raw, almost frugal lines, offering a humble journey into his artistic universe. Imbued with a certain softness despite the raw material, the pieces also recall the world of childhood, halfway between reality and imagination.

During the inauguration on May 16th, alongside Jean-Guillaume Mathiaut, Dylan Lessel and Tom-David Bastok, we met Florence Foresti, Alain Ducasse, Arthur, Lucien Pagès, Vincent Daré, and Patricia Racine.
