The inauguration of La Petite Maison de Nicole

25 years ago, in an old tea room at the entrance to Old Nice, Nicole Rubi opened her local kitchen restaurant. On the menu: Nissart flavours, a touch of Provence and some loans from Italian neighbours. A few fine buoyant faces and an overpowering word-of-mouth later, the reputation of the Côte d’Azur table is spreading around the globe. La Petite Maison opened in London in 2008, then at the Majestic Barrière Cannes in 2010. And from January 23rd, she invites herself to the Fouquet’s Barrière Hotel – George V side – by transforming the brewery’s gallery. For the occasion, Jean-Yves Leuranguer and his brigade were introduced to the great and small secrets of this Nicole version family cuisine: farçis from Nice, truffle brouillade, fried red mullets from the country, fried calamaretti and so on. An announced delight. Reveal last night, with the faithful of the establishment and some exiles in the land of the cicadas.
