The gesture at the heart of creation with Scabal and The Woolmark Company
While the fashion world is vibrating right now to the rhythm of New York fashion shows, between elegance and eccentricity, it is exceptional craftsmanship that was in the spotlight this week in Paris. In one of the most beautiful salons of the Palais Brongniart, former jewel of the Paris Stock Exchange, The Woolmark Company celebrated its alliance with Scabal, a famous tailoring house almost a century old and established for over forty years on Savile Row. At the heart of the event, wool, but not only. The Woolmark Company invited exceptional craftsmen from such different disciplines, yet united by the same passion for gesture. Thus one could discover Fred Jourden’s motorcycles (Blitz), real objects of art, in view from the entrance, while once on the floor, elegant models wore the Scabal costumes, represented by its artistic director Campbell Dunn. All wore motorcycle helmets from the’70s. Chef Peter Goossens (three stars in the Michelin guide) was also honoured, mixing with the other two artisans in a campaign film broadcast on three screens. An opportunity for guests, from Frédéric Bugada to Charlotte Lemay, to immerse themselves in the spirit of “Handling Perfection”, to have their initials embroidered on a pocket handkerchief while admiring the embroiderers at work.
